Spring Cleansing Marathon: Step 3 – Cleansing Emotions

This week we will be doing the third step of Spring cleansing and that is Emotions Cleansing. Now, let us get into Emotions Cleansing.

Tell me if this is you. One of your friends or family members calls you up either crying or being upset about something. Being the kind, an empathic person you are, you run to the rescue. You drop everything and you spend hours with your friend and offer a shoulder to cry on and advice. After your friend leaves, you feel exhausted, you can’t sleep or focus on your work and missed on spending some quality time with your loved ones.

We all do this. I know for a fact I do this all the time. After all, what is life without us supporting each other?

Step 1: Make a conscious effort to notice how you feel every time someone drains you emotionally.

Step 2: Journaling is one of the best ways to deal with emotions. Write down how you feel, when you felt this way, where, and with whom you felt this way.

Step 3: Draw the line and set boundaries. It is not rude to do so, but in fact, it is an act of kindness to yourself and to the other person.
